Trying to find leftover crisps HILARIOUS images of a mongoose helping itself to crisps from a discarded packet have been captured. Images show the opportunistic mongoose sneaking up to a packet of crisps before putting its entire head inside to try and finish off the remaining scraps. The pictures were taken in Barrackpur, West Bengal, India. A mongoose is a small terrestrial carnivorous mammal belonging to the family Herpestidae. They are noted for their audacious attacks on highly venomous snakes such as king cobras. These mammals collect food during the day and at night they stay in their burrows in the ground. Mainly feeding on fish, poultry, and other small animals mongoose have been losing their source of food and habitat as a result of urbanisation. These images were snapped by Prasenjit Dutta (40), a wildlife photographer from India. “Although it was funny to see the mongoose struggle with the crisps bag, but it was also a sad sight because these animals now have to forage through trash to feed themselves,” he told mediadrumworld.com. “Taking the pictures was very challenging because the whole incident happened very suddenly and quickly. “I had to prepare for taking the pictures in that short time and the mongoose was moving very fast in search of food. “I was very happy when I was finally able to capture the pictures since this moment is a mix of sad realisation and comical antics, a juxtaposition of emotions.” ENDS.
