Birds who drink the nectar together.. IMAGES of two Indian white-eye birds sharing nectar from a flower have been captured. Pictures show the yellow and white coloured pair extracting nectar from the same flower while perfectly clinging to the flower stem. The Indian white-eye, formerly the Oriental white-eye, is a small species of passerine bird in the white-eye family. It is a resident breeder in open woodland on the Indian subcontinent. These birds pollinate flowers when they visit them for flower insects such as thrips and nectar. The charming images were taken by Prasenjit Dutta, a wildlife photographer from West Bengal, India. “I am extremely pleased with the images and how in sync the two birds look,” he told mediadrumworld.com. “At first one bird was pollinating the flower. “When the second one came to the same flower, a very exciting yet tender moment was created for me to capture. “The way they are drinking the nectar together from the lollipop flower makes them seem like a couple. “In this era of urbanisation, birds are in danger of extinction. “It was heartwarming to see such an extraordinarily beautiful bird like the Indian White Eye in front of my eyes. “Being small birds, these birds are very fidgety, so it was a challenge to photograph them continuously moving.” ENDS.
