Thousand of Devotees seen offering prayers by lighting oil lamps and incense sticks to Sri Loknath Brahmachari on the occasion of Karthik Brata at Chakla Dham Loknath Brahmachari ashram which is almost 70 kilometers from Kolkata. Rakher Upobash is a Hindu religious festival of lights, faith, and devotion. According to the Hindu calendar, it usually takes place in the month of Kartik, which typically falls in November. Kartik month is an auspicious time according to Hindu religion. Devotees fast from sunrise and offer prayers to Sri Loknath Brahmachari during sundown before breaking their fast. The festival is usually celebrated in Bangladesh and certain parts of rural West Bengal.
