Dozens of veterinary students have put down their stethoscopes and stripped off their lab coats to raise money for Australian farmers.
Both male and female third-year veterinary students from the University of Sydney’s School of Veterinary Science bared all with strategically placed sheep, hats and goats to raise funds for Rural Aid.
The 2024 calendar hopes to raise $10,000 for Rural Aid - a vital organisation that supports rural communities through financial aid, well-being services, and resources in times of crisis or natural disaster.
The calendar, now a long-standing tradition among the university's third-year veterinary students, has been running for over a decade. This year’s edition brings a blend of humour, tasteful creativity, and a strong sense of purpose, aiming to make a positive impact while respecting the sensitivities around nudity.
"Our goal was to create a calendar we could all be proud of for years to come,” the students shared. “Fun and inclusivity were the main themes, and we carefully posed to ensure viewers can enjoy it for what it is: a lighthearted way to raise funds for a worthy cause."
Animal welfare was a top priority in the calendar’s production. Each student, as a trained animal handler, took extra care with the sheep, goats, and other animals involved. The animals’ comfort came first, with more familiar animals relishing the attention while the students adapted their poses to accommodate those less accustomed to close-up interactions.
