This lemur sticks its tongue out not wanting its photo taken, BLACKPOOL ZOO, ENGLAND, A CHEEKY lemur has been snapped sticking its tongue out to celebrate National Lemur Day on October 25th 2024.
Images show the lemurs giving their best looks to camera including a ‘Blue steel’ straight to lens stare, an over the shoulder glance and a full body pose.
In a touching moment two lemurs are posed together with one using the tail of another as a scarf.
In one cheeky outtake the lemur is poking it’s tongue out, showing the fun side of its personality.
The pictures were snapped by photographer Gary Cox, (52) from Manchester UK in London Zoo and Blackpool Zoo, England.
Gary captured the funny lemurs on his Canon 80D with Sigma 150-600mm lens.
“Lemurs are such fun animals and can be quite expressive,” said Gary.
“The one sticking its tongue out didn’t seem to want his photo taken.
“The tongue sticking out is a fun photo and a perfect moment for a photographer to capture.
“They are a very close group too and stay together.
“I love the shot of the two together with one wrapping its tail around the other.
“They always seem to be a very close group of animals and are not afraid of getting to close to us humans.
“I could watch them for ages as they are both very photogenic but also unpredictable. You don’t know what pose they will make next.
“The two hugging with the wrap around tail is my favourite. It’s just a lovely moment and shows off how close they are.
“It’s being able to capture the character of an animal that drives me on. With a lemur it is the sense of fun and togetherness which comes through in the photos.
“Their stunning black and white markings work in great contrast to their vividly bright eyes.”
