The mango market comprised of crates of the fruit on special bicycles is located in Chapainawabganj, which is called the mango capital of Bangladesh due to its abundant mango cultivation. Shafiul Islam, 30, said, "Mango is the main money maker crop of the region. Kansat is known as the largest mango market in Chapainawabganj district and Bangladesh. It is also the second largest wholesale mango market in Asia." "Numerous varieties of mangoes including Gopalbhog, Himsagar, Langra,Fazli, Amrapali are available in this market. Mangoes are sold here every day during the season which runs May to October. Mango farmers bring mangoes to the market in baskets loaded on bicycles, auto rickshaws and engine driven vehicles." They carry over 100 kilograms of mangoes in each bamboo basket and up to 50 kilograms in plastic baskets. These bird's eye view of this mango market looks like a mango kingdom to me." According to the Kansat Bazaar Owners Association, more than USD 1300000 worth of mangoes are sold here every day. Wholesalers buy mangoes and export them all over Bangladesh.
