If like many of us, an early morning commute leaves you craving a bit of extra sleep, then IKEA has the answer - a bag that doubles up as a pillow so you can take a nap on the way to work.
The RESTEN bag is a fresh take on IKEA’s iconic blue FRAKTA bag, created in collaboration with The Secret Little Agency.
Crafted from ultra-comfortable fabrics and padding, the huggable bag resembles a pillow, making it an ideal companion for those in need of rest on the go.
The bag is inspired by the travails of Singaporeans - a country whose on the go culture means it is the third most sleep-deprived nation globally.
As a result, commuters nodding off on public transport and students catching a quick nap at library tables are common sights in Singapore.
“With the entire country running on overtime, rest is often sought in unconventional places, and we saw the opportunity to bring comfort to the busy lives of Singaporeans by creating the world’s most ‘rest-able’ bag for one of the world’s most rest-less countries,” said Nicholas Ye and Mavis Neo, Chief Creative Officers at The Secret Little Agency.
The RESTEN bag is being launched alongside IKEA’s RestFest – a three-day event focused on sleep, rest, and relaxation. The bag, complete with a strap emblazoned with the words “Leave the rest to IKEA”, is designed to accommodate daily essentials while doubling as a makeshift pillow.
Caroline Ng, Country Marketing Manager of IKEA Singapore, added: “ It’s a reminder of how busy our lives are and the importance of finding moments for rest. Singaporeans can simply leave the rest to us.”
There’s no word yet on whether IKEA plans to bring the RESTEN bag to UK commuters needing a nap on the tube or train. However, Singaporeans can get their hands on the RESTEN bag through a social media contest on IKEA Singapore’s Instagram page or at the RestFest event happening across all IKEA stores from 6 to 8 September 2024.
