Pharrell Williams has designed his very own LEGO set.
Titled Over the Moon, the set features a striking space shuttle with a golden canopy and a vibrant jet stream of colours.
“Growing up, I was obsessed with space and the infinite possibilities it represents,” Pharrell said. “This partnership aims to inspire creativity and inclusivity. With my LEGO Over the Moon set, I want everyone to feel seen and empowered to imagine their own stories. The spaceship is blasting off, and you’re in the pilot seat.”
The new set arrives ahead of the release of Piece by Piece, a brick-based biopic of Pharrell documenting his life and career in LEGO.
The Over the Moon set is comprised of three elements, each carrying a special meaning for Pharrell. The black-and-gold shuttle represents limitless potential, capable of taking you anywhere your imagination can conceive. The vibrant colours of the jet stream symbolise the power of creativity and play. In keeping with Pharrell’s commitment to inclusivity, the set also features the most diverse range of minifigure skin tones ever included in a LEGO product, with seven in total. The set comes with 51 different minifigure heads, over 30 of which have been specifically designed for this project.
The Over the Moon set also introduces several new colour-piece combinations, created specifically for this collaboration, including a custom-made windscreen canopy in drum-lacquered gold—used for the first time ever.
Julia Goldin, Chief Marketing and Product Officer at the LEGO Group, praised Pharrell’s creative influence, stating: “Our values for over 90 years have been rooted in creativity, curiosity, and imagination. Pharrell is unique in his ability to draw on those qualities to influence his art. A true icon of our time, he never fails to innovate and inspire his audience through any of his many endeavours.”
Pharrell’s collaboration with the LEGO Group will also extend to his non-profit organisation, YELLOW, which focuses on educational initiatives for young people. This partnership will launch a new global challenge, LEGO Build the Change, aimed at bringing creative play to children around the world.
The LEGO Over the Moon set will be available for purchase from 20 September 2024 at www.LEGO.com and in LEGO stores, priced at £94.99, bringing boundless fun and creativity to curious minds everywhere.
