The 2024 Olympic Games is in full swing in Paris and those in space have also given some “out of this world” performances.
Above the world — in the orbiting laboratory, the International Space Station — NASA's astronauts are getting into the Olympic spirit.
To support athletes stuck on terra firma, they even compiled their own training montage from space - utilising the zero gravity to pull off some impressive feats.
The montage was followed by a message to Earth from astronaut Matt Dominick to US athletes.
“Over the past few days on the International Space Station we’ve had an absolute blast pretending to be Olympic athletes,” he said. “We of course have had the benefits of weightlessness. We can’t imagine how hard it must be to be a world class athlete, doing your sports under actual gravity.
“So from all of us aboard the International Space Station, to every single athlete competing in the Olympic Games…God speed!”
