Images show the majestic images of elephants exploring in the golden hour light at sundown, before two elephants go trunk to trunk and twist them together in a tight embrace showing their powerful connection.
These images were captured by photographer Nadine Villabruna (30) from St Gallen Switzerland.
Nadine captured the beautiful elephants on her Canon EOS R7 + Canon 300mm f2.8 / Canon EOS R6 + Canon 24-70mm f2.8 in Samburu, Kenya.
“I was in Samburu on a safari and we came across a group of elephants. The nature in Samburu was lush and green because of the recent rains. The elephants were very calm, so we could spend a lot of time with them,” said Nadine.
“Two young male elephants caught my attention as they playfully fought, twisting their trunks together.
“The elephants were among the bushes, so I focused on capturing small details. I love to show these details to give a unique view of the scene.
“I also enjoy photographing interactions because they make the photos interesting and tell a story.
“Being surrounded by elephants is always special and one of my favorite experiences. Hearing their sounds gives me goosebumps. Witnessing their immense power and gentle nature is truly incredible.
“I love the way their trunks are intertwined; it adds a fascinating touch to the photo.
“The elephants were more playful than aggressive, and it was heartwarming to watch the interaction between these two youngsters. It's truly one of my favorite captures.
