The temple is pseudodipteral, with eight columns at the ends and fifteen along the sides. Aizanoi is regarded as one of the main settlements of the Aizanitis, affiliated with Phrygia. It is estimated that the city area has been in use since the Early Bronze Age, starting from around 3000 BC. The ancient city is home to an array of historical treasures, featuring Anatolia's best-preserved Zeus temple, a 15,000-seat theater, a contiguous stadium for 13,500, the world's first commodity exchange building, and the sacred area of Meter Steunene. Aizanoi Ancient City, which was included in UNESCO's World Heritage Temporary List in 2012, is recognized contemporaneously with other ancient cities such as Ephesus, Bergama, and Side.
