Members of the 'Britannia Coconut Dancers of Bacup', with blackened faces to prevent being recognised by evil spirits, take part in their annual Easter Saturday Boundary Procession in Bacup, near Manchester in north west England on April 8, 2023. - The dance troupe, whose performances can be traced back to 1857, perform their annual folk dances accompanied by Stacksteads Band to welcome in the season of Spring and celebrate Easter. It is thought that the dance and costume were brought to Rossendale Valley by Cornish tin-miners after their industry depleted and were employed in the local stone and coal mines.
