This image shows a rocket that flew straight into a house in Ranok, a village in the Ivano-Frankivsk region of Western Ukraine on Thursday (29December2022), almost a thousand kilometres from Russia. It failed to detonate.
On 29 December, Russia fired more than 120 missiles at its neighbour, according to Ukrainian officials. Although many were shot down by air defence systems, several reached their targets or were shot down causing damage.
Commenting on the attack, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Kyrylo Tymoshenko said: “Miraculously the missile did not explode. The cynicism of Russians knows no bounds.”
