FILE -- Christopher Plummer as King Lear at The Vivian Beaumont Theater, Lincoln Center, in New York, Feb. 6, 2004. After playing King Lear in New York at the age of 74, a role at an age that might seem a perfect capstone to a long acting career, Plummer just kept chugging along with roles that earned: a seventh Tony nomination, for "Inherit the Wind" in 2007; two more Emmy nominations; two more Academy Award nominations; and one Oscar win, for the 2010 film "Beginners," in which he played a gay man coming out of the closet at 75.
