A kingfisher dives down to the water to catch a fish for his dinner. The bird's wings are outstretched, showing off his bright orange belly. The dramatic photos were taken near Rutland, East Midlands, by David Akers. The 73 year old retired photographer from Cheshire said: "This male kingfisher is trying to catch fish for his partner, if and when the fish is caught depending on the way the fish is in its mouth. Tail first means giving it to his partner but head first he’s eating it.
