'I have spent Ł10,000 on 160 tattoos – people gawk and my mum keeps asking when I'll be done but I'm obsessed'
A woman “obsessed” with tattoos says people constantly stare and her mum keeps asking when she’ll be “done” – but she won’t stop for anyone.
When Brookelle Bombshelle, as she calls herself, went under the needle for the first time at just 18 to get the word ‘Monster’ inked on her hand, she had no idea how much she’d fall in love with getting tattooed.
Now, at 31, she has spent over Ł10,000 for 160 tattoos.
And her look doesn’t always go down well in public.
“I'm going for a full coverage body suit,” the influencer and tattoo artist, who has over 63,000 followers on TikTok, told What's The Jam.
“I’ve been working on it for the last 14 years, getting tattooed at least once a month.
“My family is very accepting, they don’t judge me based on appearances.
“But my mother always asks: ‘Are you done yet?’
“The general public’s reaction depends on location.
“For example, most places in the States are seemingly intimidated.
“Typically people gawk or ask silly questions such as: ‘Why?’ and ‘Did it hurt?’
“But I don’t concern myself with the opinions of others.”
Brookelle, who is from Baltimore, US, is currently working on putting her eyeballs and back under the needle.
She said: “I will likely continue getting tattooed until I expire.
“It’s more about the ritual and evolution than the piece at this point.
“In Hawaii, they were very complimentary to me and seemed to be attracted to my tattoos.
“Particularly the ones on my head or face.
“Be unapologetically you.
“Get the tattoos that make you feel good about yourself, don't let anyone’s opinion hold you back.”
