A tandem bike covered in brightly coloured yarn has hit the streets of a quiet village. The bike has been donned in over 2kg of acrylic yarn by the Titchfield Yarn Bombers, a group of fifteen ladies from within the village, near Fareham, Hants. Seven of the group embarked on the latest project, investing a total of 100 hours, to decorate the 1970s American chopper-style tandem, that had been donated to them. Acrylic yarn was used as it does not shrink or fade in the British weather with the piece remaining on show until Halloween. The tandem was crocheted and knitted using twenty-one, 100g balls of yarn. The group's latest piece is part of the ongoing decoration of the project but also an acknowledgement to the Olympic and Paralympic GB cycling director Steven Park who lives in the village. The yarn bombers started up in 2022 to decorate Titchfield ahead of the Queen's Jubilee, and have continued to adorn the village to celebrate events and activities ever since. © Simon Czapp/Solent News & Photo Agency UK +44 (0) 2380 458800
