*FILE PHOTO*(NYT) NEW YORK -- Nov. 28, 2007 -- NEW-ORLEANS-GODOT-ADV02-2 -- Paul Chan's "1st Light, 2005," a digital animated projection that was featured at the last Whitney Biennial in February 2006. Chan, 34, is well known to the international art world for his video animations of paradises embattled and lost, and to law enforcement officials for his activist politics. He is combining the two strands in his work in New Orleans, which has included an outdoor production of "Waiting for Godot" and cardboard signs related to the play posted around the city.
