(NYT98) NEW YORK -- July 18, 2007 -- NY-EXPLOSION-12 -- Firefighters respond to the scene near Grand Central Station in midtown Manhattan, Wednesday, July 18, 2007 after a steam explosion tore through a Manhattan street near Grand Central Terminal. Damaged vehicles are seen in the background. The explosion which occured during the evening rush hour sent residents running for cover amid a plume of steam and debris.
