(NYT60) NEW YORK -- July 29, 2007 -- NY-EXPLOSION-2 -- Junior Suarez, 27, in the borough of Staten Island, N.Y., Sunday, July 29, 2007. Suarez, who works for an employment agency at 42nd Street and Lexington Avenue was the first to aid Gregory McCullough, the towtruck driver who was severly injured -- and remains hospitalized -- in the steampipe explosion in Manhattan last week. Suarez says he saw McCullough emerge from a cloud of dust and debris, covered in blood and mud, stumbling and barely on his feet. "I ran up to him and grabbed him," Suarez says. "He fell into my arms, and his skin was falling off. He was just screaming, and I felt the heat from his body. I've never seen someone in that much pain." (Damon Winter/The New York Times)
