Some of the troupe's pieces are funny, while others have serious themes like gluttony, prejudice faced by fat people and obesity's psychic toll. A troupe of obese dancers have become a cultural phenomenon in Cuba, breaking the traditional stereotypes of dance, redefining the aesthetics of beauty and, along the way, raising the self esteem of people with weight problems.
