(NYT68) COWDEN, Ill. -- July 27, 2007 -- CATFISH-HANDFISHING-2 -- Howard Ramsey, waist-deep in the Kaskaskia River, caught a catfish with his bare hands in Cowden, Ill., on Sunday, July 22, 2007. Sticking one's hand in the mouth of a catfish, which can weigh more than 100 pounds, carries significant risk of physical injury. For Ramsey, noodling in his home state harbors yet another risk: noodling is illegal in Missouri, a situation Ramsey is working to change. (Dilip Vishwanat/The New York Times)
