(NYT79) WITNEY, England -- July 24, 2007 -- BRITAIN-FLOODS -- The foot-deep water from the weekend has left John Burrow's home in Witney, England a shambles, permeated by an unpleasant odor, he said on Tuesday, July 24, 2007. Burrow, 72, and the other waterlogged residents of this small Oxfordshire village were actually lucky, in the scheme of things. Great swaths of Britain remained underwater on Tuesday, after the worst flooding here since the terrible winter of 1947.
