(NYT71) CONCORD, N.H. -- Jan. 9, 2008 -- REPUBS-PAUL -- A supporter of Representative Ron Paul (R-Texas), Violet Zharov, a student at Carnegie Mellon, sold calendars and cookies at his party after the primary election on Tuesday in Concord, N.H. Despite what seemed like a solid pairing of Paul's libertarian leanings and New Hampshire's "live free or die" ideals embodied in its independent voting bloc, he placed fifth, the same as in Iowa, and 2,000 votes behind Republican presidential candidate Rudolph W. Giuliani. (Jacob Silberberg/The New York Times)
