(NYT16) NEW YORK -- Dec. 27, 2007 -- LAWRENCE-ART-REVIEW -- All of Jacob Lawrence's "Migration of the Negro" paintings -- or, more accurately, copies are included in the "Migration Series: Selections From the Phillips Collection" at the Triple Candie gallery in Harlem in December 2007 and continues through Jan. 20. The series is about the shift of African-American populations from a poor and repressive rural South to a prosperous but unwelcoming urban North between the two world wars. Lawrence's family participated in that shift. (Fred R. Conrad/The New York Times)
