(NYT42) ELIZABETH, N.J. -- Dec. 16, 2007 -- NJ-JAIL-ARREST-2 -- A view of the Union County Jail in Elizabeth, N.J., in December 2007. Otis Blunt and Jose Espinosa chipped two cinder blocks free and jumped from the roof of the jail. The two men both had violent reputations: Espinosa had pleaded guilty in a drive-by shooting death, and Blunt had done prison time for assault and armed robbery.
