(NYT22) CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Dec. 16, 2007 -- FACEBOOK-RESEARCH -- Nicholas Christakis, a Harvard professor who is using Facebook to study how people form social relationships, said, "Our predecessors could only dream of the kind of data we now have." Christakis at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass., on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2007. To study how personal tastes, habits and values affect the formation of social relationships (and how social relationships affect tastes, habits and values), a team of researchers from Harvard and the University of California, Los Angeles, are monitoring the Facebook profiles of an entire class of students at one college, which they declined to name for privacy reasons.
