(NYT30) PORTLAND, Maine -- Dec. 9, 2007 -- MAINE-MUMPS -- Inga Bozsik, right, a student at the University of Southern Maine, getting a mumps vaccine in Portland, Maine in December 2007. Hundreds of students at the University of Southern Maine have been barred from its campuses here and in nearby Gorham over mumps vaccinations. The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention issued an emergency order that full-time or resident students at the campuses -- 5,996 people -- must have had a second vaccination for mumps. The order came after two cases of the virus were confirmed at the school; another case is suspected. (Jodi Hilton/The New York Times)
