(NYT42) NEW YORK -- Sept. 11, 2001 -- TERROR-RDP-42 -- A New York City police car is buried under in rubble following the collapse of the World Trade Center just a hundred yards away, Tuesday. In what appeared to be parallel attacks on quintessential symbols of American financial and military power on Tuesday morning, planes slammed into both towers of the World Trade Center in Manhattan, and then a short time later another crashed into the Pentagon, outside Washington. Both of the 110-story towers at the World Trade Center collapsed some minutes apart about an hour later. (Justin Lane/The New York Times)
