(NYT30) PITTSBURGH -- June 2, 2006 -- VONAGE-INVEST -- David Anderson in his Carnegie Mellon University office in Pittsburgh, in June 2006. Anderson, an assistant professor of computer science, is a Vonage customer who was offered the opportunity to buy IPO shares. He wound up being allotted 200 shares, for which he spent around $3,400. He was not planning to keep them. While Vonage has the largest share of the market, competition has gotten severe, particularly from cable companies that offer customers the option of buying television, Internet and phone service in a single bundle.
