RETRANSMISSION TO CORRECT DATELINE IN CAPTION TO CAYO ROJO -- (NYT8) CAYO ROJO, Puerto Rico -- June 1, 2006 -- PUERTO-RICO-SOUTH-2 -- Cabo Rojo, in February, 2004, is where the arid climate and rural atmosphere contrast with the north. Most visitors to the commonwealth gravitate to the San Juan region, on the island's north coast; many trek eastward to the resorts in Rio Grande and Fajardo or take a day trip to El Yunque rain forest. But Cabo Rojo remains relatively unvisited, and it feels beautifully remote. (Alex Quesada/The New York Times)
