(NYT10) CAMBY, Ind. -- Oct. 22, 2005 -- MEDICAL-EXPENSES-2 -- Zachery Dorsett, 8, with his sister Dakota, 5, in their home in Camby, Ind., in August 2005. Zachery was found to have an immune system disorder this year and must now take monthly infusions of immune globulin. Though they had insurance, the Arnold and Sharon Dorsett had to file for bankruptcy because of Zachery's health care costs. Never have patients had so many medical options to extend, enrich or alter their lives. But these new options are expensive, and with them has come a change for which many Americans -- even those with health insurance -- are financially ill prepared.
