(NYT23) BATON ROUGE, La. -- Oct. 1, 2005 -- STORM-VOICES -- Dr. Susan Eddlestone with Cane, at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, La., on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005. Dr. Eddlestone volunteered immediately when a call for help went out, days after Hurricane Katrina. The temporary animal shelter at Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales, La., 60 miles from New Orleans, was overwhelmed.
