(NYT51) HOUSTON, Texas -- Nov. 11, 2005 -- NEW-ORLEANS-EVACUEE -- Shantel Reddick, seated, spends Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, testing at the sheriff's academy in Harris County, Texas, the first step toward becoming an officer.
