(NYT22) KAPLAN, La. -- Sept. 18, 2005 -- KATRINA-GATOR-HUNT-- Alligator hunter Jean Duphon hauls the carcass of an alligator on board his skiff in the marshes near Kaplan, in southern Louisiana, on Sept. 15, 2005. Hurricane Katrina flooded New Orleans and killed hundreds, if not thousands of people along the Gulf Coast. The storm left a million others at least temporarily homeless. But where Louisiana's alligators are concerned, the hunt must go on. (Scott Dalton/The New York Times)
