(NYT74) YONKERS, N.Y. -- April 21, 2005 -- NY-YONKERS-RABBI -- Rabbi Rigoberto Emanuel Vinas, right, leads a service to end the Sabbath at the Lincoln Park Jewish Center in Yonkers, N.Y., in April. Since Vinas, now 36, accepted the job two years ago, more than 30 families have joined the center. People who have been members for decades use words like inspired and invigorated when they talk about the changes. The newcomers also speak of the dynamic atmosphere, then go on to cite the ways the congregation has made them feel welcome. (Ting-Li Wang/The New York Times)
