(NYT40) NEW YORK -- May 28, 2005 -- NY-BROOKLYN-DIVERSITY-2 -- On Sunday, May 22, 2005, in Ditmas Park, in Brooklyn, Forbes Wilson, 11, took to the hammock at a barbecue held by Claire Beckman in connection with a play Beckman is putting on. This softly shaded patch of Flatbush is one of the city's most polyglot and polychrome, what city demographers like to call a melting-pot neighborhood, because no one ethnic or racial group is dominant and many are represented.
