(NYT33) NEW YORK -- Feb. 7, 2001 -- OBIT-EVANS-2 -- Dale Evans, the Queen of the West, who won the hearts of millions of Americans as she rode alongside her husband, Roy Rogers, in western films and on ??The Roy Rogers Show'' in the early years of television, died Wednesday at her home in Apple Valley, Calif., east of Los Angeles. She was 88. A misty-eyed Roy Rogers, 83, and Dale Evans, 82, are praised Sept. 14, 1995 by New York City Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani for their devotion to charitable causes.
