(NYT27) HURLEY, N.Y. -- Feb. 7, 2001 -- NY-CATHOLIC-SCHOOLS -- In a major but very quiet move, the Catholic Archdiocese of New York is closing its only high school in Ulster County. It's the first school closing by the Archdiocese and it could be a sign of Cardinal Egan's moves to shore up the church's regional finances by closing or consolidating its facilities. Julia Dvorak, left, Helena Costakis, and Ryan Trepanier, all juniors at John D. Coleman Catholic High School, after learining their school would be closed at the end of the school year, Wednesday.
