Class property! Historic boarding school on sale just three months after sudden closure
A historic boarding school is up for sale just three months after closing.
The 100-year-old primary was £900,000 in debt.
It blamed the closure in August on the potential impact of VAT changes and a roll of only 173 pupils.
But the Kilgraston School in Bridge of Earn, near Perth, Scotland, is now on the market.
It taught pupils aged five to 12 and had termly fees of £5,612-a-term.
Now, agents, Savills, are marketing it for an undisclosed sum.
The building is 231-years-old.
The price is only available to potential buyers on the application.
The impressive site includes a number of sporting facilities including a 25m indoor swimming pool, tennis courts, an equestrian centre with stables, a large floodlit hockey pitch and an indoor sports hall.
There are also three residential dwellings on the grounds.
Kilgraston House is an A-listed building, with the entrance archway, gate lodge, and former stables building classified as B-listed.
Savills says the school and surrounding 55 acres of mature parkland offer significant potential for redevelopment, as reported by Luxury Property News.
Kilgraston House, which dates back to the 18th century, was designed by Francis Grant and later extended by Sir Robert Rowand Anderson.
The site was bought by the Society of the Sacred Heart in 1930 and opened as a school.
It features several modern extensions.
The listing reads: “The site is the former Kilgraston School. Kilgraston House dates from 1793 and is Category A listed.
“A number of modern extensions have been added to the house over the years to create teaching space, dormitory rooms and other facilities associated with the school.
