COLOURISED Whitehead and Glider 1901-1904 UK, COLOURISED IMAGES show some of the kookiest contraptions ever invented including the cheapest British car and electric luggage trucks. Images show the craziest inventions around the world from the 1900’s with enthusiastic people happy to take part in the trials. According to mediadrumworld.com some of the most impressive contraptions that were on offer included the world's first passenger carrying submarine from 13 July 1964 named, ‘The craft’, which could carry 42 passengers at a depth of 3000 ft. It was scheduled to start passenger carrying runs at the exhibition from 16 July 1964. A modern reconstruction of Cayley's glider in flight. The first full-size man-carrying glider was designed by Sir George Cayley of Brompton Hall, Brompton, Yorkshire and featured in the Mechanics Magazine for 15th September 1852. Another notable invention is one of the earliest electric cars called the ‘Henney Kilowatt’ and is pictured being plugged in 29 March 1960. A heartbreaking image from 1938 shows the sign of the times with a gas proof pram in Hextable, Kent. These images reveal the genius of engineering in the early 1900’s that went on to inspire the modern day technology we are so reliant on today including planes and electric cars. ENDS
