A group of tourists is brought back to shore by the crew of the swordfish fishing boat "Padron Marco", in Messina, Italy, August 9, 2024. Due to the decrease in swordfish fishing due to the warming of the water, some boats have started to add tourist tours to their fishing activity, to cover the maintenance costs of the boats. Swordfish fishing with boats called feluccas has been carried out for centuries in the Strait of Messina (and is also the only place where it is practiced), it is a fishing that is practiced only from the month of June to mid-August, making this activity at risk of extinction despite it being an eco-sustainable fishery that respects the ecosystem.
