Baku, Azerbaijan, march 18, 2007 The offshore platform Deepwater Gunashli, constructed by the American company Mac Durmitt, waits for its transportation to the open sea. south of Baku. The Deepwater Gunashli is the 6th platform used by BP to exploit Caspian oil from the Azeri Chirag Gunashli oil field. Once installed in the Caspian Sea, the platform will produce oil which will be transported by the strategic but controversial Baku Tbilisi Ceyhan oil pipeline or BTC, connecting Baku with the Turkish port of Ceyhan.
