Dmitri Gavrysh/UPG/REPORTER UPG ARCHIVE Ukraine's chief surgeon, Academician Alexander Shalimov on March 9, 1998. On Tuesday, February 28, 2006, Shalimov died after a long decease. He was the first surgeon, who made transplantation of pancreas of a diabetic, developed and introduced new methods of operations in the case of ontological diseases. Shalimov will be buried at Baykove cemetery on March 2.
