Viscri village(275 Km. NW from Bucharest) became famous after the heir to the British crown, HRH Charles, Prince of Wales, bought a house (not in pic) in the area, in 1996. Since then, houses prices began to rise, and today there are up to 17 times higher then 20 years ago. The Prince paid for a four-room house, a barn and a garden, ? 15,000. In 2010, the houses' price sold in Viscri was between 40000-45000 euros, but in 2012 the prices reached 60,000 euros. A farm is sold today with 85,000 euros, if you can find one for sale. The "Royal House", as the locals in Viscri answer when you ask about Prince Charles' property, is rented throughout the year for tourists, for about L 670 per week. "Charles' village" as is now known in the area is visited annually by over 15,000 tourists, mostly foreigners. Viscri was put on the world map of traditional villages by UNESCO. The house (not in picture) is administred by Mihai Eminescu Trust(MET) foundation, owned by HRH Charles, Prince of Wales.
