South Sudan, Nasir, 1993 Inside the Medecins du Monde centre for displaced persons from the civil war. In the camps every one lives together: doctors, nurses, aid workers, and journalists. In this centre, there were mostly orphaned and abandoned children. In the camps, there are too many people comparing to the amount of medical staff. We all live in the camps, In 1993, that was the case: living with the doctors and nurses and the aid workers. However, no matter what, you always felt like an outsider. I was there working as a journalist, taking pictures, capturing the horror, trying not to let it get inside of me but in the end I gave up and brought it all inside. I even brought the Malaria into my body, and like those around me, became a victim, laying in a death down fall. Accepting that was where I would go like a spider circling around a sink drain with the water washing around, pushing me down. But, when I look at this doctor, she was an angel of mercy.
