The principal settlement in the London Borough of Croydon, it is one of the largest commercial districts outside Central London, with an extensive shopping district and night-time economy. By the early 20th century, Croydon was an important industrial area, known for car manufacture, metal working and Croydon Airport. In the mid 20th century these sectors were replaced by retailing and the service economy, brought about by massive redevelopment which saw the rise of office blocks and the Whitgift Centre, the largest shopping centre in London until 2008. Croydon was amalgamated into Greater London in 1965. Tom Duma, Shop Manager (taller dark hair) & Jacob Langston, Warehouse Overlord (shorter, blonde hair) of A Place In Space, Church Street, a specialist American comic, collectibles & toy shop on Church Street, It has been a fixture of the area for 16 years, as well as having a very large online presence. They are the biggest eBay seller of comics in the country (most likely the world) & are in the top 50 web stores worldwide shifting on average 500 comics per day. They are known for stocking popular interesting items long before anyone else. They were the first to stock Japanese collectibles Pokemon & Yu-Gi-Oh even hiring a translator in store before they were printed in English. Their current top products are FunkoPop! vinyl collectibles (pictured). They have the largest range on offer in the UK stocking many special edition versions. ?
