The Eastern Orthodox priests throw a cross in the sea and the men dive in and compete to get to it first. It is believed that those who swim in the cold sea will be healthy throughout the year. Epiphany is an annual Christian celebration to remember the Baptism of Jesus Christ in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. It is celebrated on January 6.
