FANCY THAT!...This fancy frog appears to be wearing a butterfly as a fascinator. The moment, like something out of a Disney film, was spotted in a North Jakarta forest, Indonesia by accountant Laurence Suryanata.
The 72 year old said, “I was amazed when I witnessed and captured this moment. I felt very lucky. I was walking around the forest on my day off looking for nice photos and stumbled upon the scene.”
“The frog looks like it’s wearing the butterfly as a fascinator. I believe it is a dumpy white tree frog, which is commonly kept as a pet in Indonesia, so it may be an escaped pet.”

(A) The photos were taken on the afternoon of September 30, 2024. The location was in an urban forest in North Jakarta.
(Q) What species of butterfly is this? Are both animals common here?
(A) Regarding the species of butterfly, to be honest, I am not sure, as this species is very common in small forests or gardens. As for the frog, I believe it is a Dumpy White Tree Frog. This species originates from Papua, Indonesia, but it is commonly kept as a pet. It’s possible that this frog was a pet that escaped.
(Q) Can you describe what is happening in these images? It looks as though the frog is wearing the butterfly as a hat/fascinator, would you agree?
(A) Yes, I agree. The frog looks like it's wearing a fascinator.
(Q) Can you give us an insight into the moments leading up to this as well as directly after?
(A) I feel very lucky and amazed to have witnessed and captured such a moment.

(A) While I was photo hunting during my day off, I coincidentally stumbled upon this scene.
