And while she understands that many couples are turning to having separate beds or bedrooms to preserve their relationship, she says this could actually be having the opposite effect. She reveals several ways sleeping next to your partner can aid your body and mind – from a boost to the immune system to having less fights. “Sharing a bed enhances emotional bonding and intimacy,” she told NeedToKnow. “Physical closeness releases oxytocin – the ‘love hormone' – which promotes feelings of affection and trust. “Studies suggest that couples who sleep together report higher levels of relationship satisfaction and emotional intimacy.” Sleeping next to your partner isn’t just about closeness. According to Lisa, who has partnered with Simba, your sleep quality could be improved too.
